Robbie loves to play dress up. At home we've been firefighters & cops, knights & dragons, and most recently pirates. When I read about Disney's "The Pirates League" as I was planning our vacation, I got right on the phone and made a reservation. When we got to the Magic Kingdom, we took a left at the Castle and headed into Adventureland. Next to the Pirates of the Caribbean ride is the secret entrance to the "Pirate's League." After checking in, our first order of business was to be assigned, by order of Jack Sparrow, a pirates name by way of the "Paradise Box." Robbie turned the wheel and out fell a, ahem, pair of dice. The numbers were used along with his birthday to locate his secret pirate name from Jack Sparrow's book.

Robbie's new pirate name was "Roger Raidrage" and we proceeded to the chair. Master Raidrage decided to choose the "Captain Hook" look from the list of available choices. He also selected a hook from the selection of piratey things Disney has on display.

After being all made over, Master Raidrage had to recite a pirate oath:
I pledge to be a true and honest pirate.
One who can always be trusted not to be trusted,
To run from any fight I cannot win,
To win any fight from which I cannot run,
To plunder treasure with a hearty laugh,
To swab the deck with a hearty hand,
To seek freedom with a hearty heart,
And to sing "Yo Ho" in a hearty voice,
And to discourage the spurious/frivolous use
of "parlay" in situations of conflict.
This was signed by Captain Jack Sparrow himself. He was given a velvet pouch in which to keep his "booty" and received a gold medallion to wear around his neck. Then we were lead to a secret room.
I had to put away my "little box that steals people's souls" so Roger Raidrage could receive his official Disney Pirate photo, which of course we purchased for a few gold doubloons.

Robbie had an absolute blast doing this. He also loved the attention he got from basically everyone we passed in the Magic Kingdom that day. Also, in the few short days since we've been home he's dressed up like a pirate and played for hours. This was so much fun! If you have a little pirate wannabe in your house and are heading to Disney, you should check this out!
